The club has a proud history, starting in 1890, and has produced many fine athletes who have represented New Zealand in athletics and other sports, including 1974 New Zealand Women's Long Jump Champion, Kathy Otto, Karen Lockyer, Kelvin Sefton, Nicky Hollis (both still age-group record holders), Rosanna Balle, Phillip Lowe, Renee Kraakman, Mark Bowyer, All Black Mark Brewer - and Franklin Mayor Mark Ball.
Mark was NZ 400m hurdle champion in 1980 and Auckland champion in 1979 and 1980, making the training development squad for the 1982 Commonwealth Games.
Athletes from Pukekohe Athletics have received overseas athletics scholarships to American universities and the club has had more than 15 NZ representatives since its inception. Club members are in expert hands with head coach John Moffit, who has been bringing out the very best in young athletes for over 30 years.
